Houndstooth Tulip

You can give monochrome an instant switch up with patterns like gingham, tartan and houndstooth. One of my favourite items of clothing in my monochrome collection is my houndstooth tulip skirt from Topshop. Tulips skirts are fabulous as they give the illusion of a smaller waist with their over-sized, upturned pockets so on the days that I'm not feeling slim enough for a bodycon skirt, this style is ideal.

I have been digging this out of my wardrobe a lot recently, the houndstooth pattern is a chic alternative to plain block colours which can give an otherwise simple outfit a little monochrome twist. Online I've seen a lot of houndstooth trousers too which I think are really gorgeous!

As it is getting closer to Summer and the monochrome trend is being left behind (much to my dismay!) you can bring an monochrome item into the next season with some SS14 add ons. I have paired the skirt here with a baby blue fluffy jumper (also from Topshop) and some coral lipstick for a pop of colour. I love mixing up trends so this is definitely an item that you can easily throw in with other styles!

Lots of love,
