The Autumnal Eye

Has anyone else seen the new season M&S advert? I love it. I just love it. The coats, boots, knitwear all look so cosy and glamorous, it makes me feel so excited to swing my fashion and beauty towards Autumn/Winter for another year. New season beauty means dramatic and dark eyes and lips, which I've gone without for pretty much the whole of Summer and I'm welcoming back with open arms.

A perfect Autumn eye make-up look for anything from day to day wear to a night out is a blend between a cat and smokey eye. I wish this had an actual name; smokey cat eye is such a mouthful and if this does have a name can someone please tell me what it is, I'm itching to know!

This make-up look is quick and easy to create, it's literally the shape of the liner cat eye but with black eye-shadow instead. Easy peasy, lemon squeasy. In fact it's easier than trying to do the perfect liner cat eye as it is a smokey version it doesn't have to be as neat and tidy as the traditional cat eye. After drawing the shadow line, use a brush to just subtly blur the line, making sure the darkest part stays in the outside corner of your eye and the rest graduates lighter the closer to the inside corner you get. Then take a brush a dust a little bit of black shadow on the edge of your bottom lid, as close to the lash line as possible without being on it. As a finishing touch, you may want to sweep a thin bit of liquid liner over your top eyelid and then complete with mascara.
The beauty of this autumnal eye make-up look is that you can afford to make a tiny bit of a mess as AW means dramatic eyes. Even though you want this to look carefree, effortless and like you don't care frankly, you can always tidy up any stray eye-shadow pigments with a cotton bud. Cotton buds are my best friend when it comes to make-up application; they correct any mistakes in a second.

I'd love to know if anyone tries the smokey cat eye this autumn, I'm excited to get in my fluffy jumpers, wooly coats and wear this look on my eyes a lot more often.
