Best Drinks For Good Health

Best drinks for good health benefits of herbal tea green tea peppermint tea lemon water juicing juice green juice lifestyle healthy drinks

"To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear."

Taking care of our bodies is a responsibility that we carry with us our whole lives. Let's not lie, it's so easy to be a bit lazy when it comes to taking care of ourselves and I'm a walking example of someone who would rather have a day in my pjs watching Netflix than go out for a run. But, taking care of ourselves isn't just about exercise, it's about what we're putting inside our bodies too that can effect it. In general we're pretty clued up about what's  good for us in terms of food, but what about drinks? Read on to find out what drinks you should be stocking your cupboards with to aid your good health.

First thing's first, let's talk about the obvious; water. Everyone and their mother knows that drinking water is key to good all round health and I think it's easy to underestimate the benefits of water, but there are so many packed into this simple little liquid. For someone that suffers with acne, drinking water for me is essential to keep new breakouts at bay as water flushes the toxins out of your body. As well as detoxing your body, water will keep both your inside and your outside hydrated and also helps promote smooth, bright skin. For those of you that don't like plain water, flavour it yourself with lemon for a delicious natural flavour with added benefits for your body. As well as being good for hydration and for your skin, hair and nails, lemon water can also boosts your immune system, has natural detoxing properties and is said to even aid in preventing cancer.

My personal favourite type of drink is herbal tea, and luckily a lot of the herbal teas are packed full of properties that pamper your body from the inside out. Green tea is my go-to drink every hour of the day as I not only love the taste but it also has a large array of health benefits. I know some people aren't too fond of the taste of green tea but you can buy variations of it that are flavoured with tastes such as lemon or raspberry so definitely give them a try if you aren't keen on the taste of plain green tea. Green tea is jam packed full of antioxidants and also helps improve your cholesterol, speeds metabolism and maintains a healthy circulation system. Green tea is also great for your teeth as it helps prevents plaque, freshens breath and strengthens your tooth enamel. Another herbal tea that has been a recent addition to our kitchen cupboards is peppermint tea, which I find grows on me every time I have it. Has anyone ever tried to Bootea Teatox? Peppermint tea smells exactly like it but has a slightly nicer taste, and is also great for your body. When I personally drink peppermint tea I feel like it cleanses my palate and it apparently prevents bad breath too! Peppermint tea is also a natural aid for your digestive system and can prevent nausea and headaches; a fabulous natural hangover cure.

A healthy drink craze that dominated 2014 was juicing and I was one to jump onto that bandwagon and bought myself a juicer. Juicers allow you to make all sorts of drinks in pretty much any combination and one of the most famous healthy juices to date is green juice. Green juice is known to be great for detoxing, achieving healthy, clear skin, weight loss and is filled with antioxidants. There are a few different recipes for green juice and I typically browse Pinterest when I'm looking for different variations easily. If you've never made a green juice before or are a newbie to juicing, check out this recipe which is specially designed for beginners.

  1. I absolutely swear by water - I drink four bottles every day and since I started, it's made such a difference. My appearance is brighter, I have more energy, I'm more focused and it stops me snacking! It's all I drink, apart from cups of tea!

I also adore the quote you've used - it definitely is a duty. We've been given our bodies so we should make the most of them.

    1. That's so good! I feel so much energetic when I drink loads of water! Xx

  2. Umm i love green tea as well, good post x

  3. I love this.... I am thinking about starting the hot water and lemon every morning. I have heard a lot of great things about it!

  4. I drink lots of water. I bought a fancy bottle for work to motivate myself to drink more. I like green tea too, but not as much as normal tea. I can drink 4-5 cups of tea while at work, plus the water which means lots of loo breaks!

I never got into juicing but I like making smoothies. I add kale or spinach usually as I can't taste it and it feels like I'm being healthy.

Thanks for sending me your link on #lbloggers chat tonight.

  5. When I arrived at detoxification a week later of drinking the Green energy drinks, I had a level of brain clarity like I had never encountered previously. I felt like my psyche was being opened to a whole new planet that I had never encountered up to that focus.
