The Undiscovered World

Words by Orla McMullan

‘Undiscovered’ designers are those who don’t fall into the mainstream of fashion designers and are more often than not graduates. This is what makes them so amazing, they are new and still trying to find their ‘style’ so are more edgy and adventurous - which suits us down to the ground! So, here are four of our favourite undiscovered gems!

-Savannah and Some-

With a huge focus on dye work, each Savannah and Som piece is totally original due to the natural dyeing process, this is why we love them! Each piece is as unique as the person who is wearing it so it’s a brand that really helps you find and supports your individuality. As well all their products are designed and made in Scotland.

The basis of Velásquez’s SS/16 campaign is vibrant colour and strong line which creates a really fresh and clean feel within the collection, which is perfectly suited for those hot summer days - which we’re sure they’re used to as the brand is based and the products are produced in Columbia. Unfortunately this collection isn’t available to shop but Velásquez is definitely one to watch.

We love the romantic fluidity of the flowing chiffon in Fishwife’s new SS/16 collection. Subtly contradicted with the use of dark undertones and chaotic pattern - this collection perfectly creates a darker, more edgy, yet still feminine look.

This minimalist collection focuses very much on elegance through simplicity in term of both the shape and colour. Also the use of rich muted tones brings a sophisticated tone to the collection as a whole. We think this is the perfect transitional collection for between summer and autumn with the light knitwear to take away that chill but bold colour to help retain the fun of summer.

  1. I think I'm most drawn to the Velásquez collection - particular the color choices. Thanks for sharing these unknown designers.

  4. It honestly is a shame that you can not shop with Velásquez - their style is really appealing to me and my taste/sense of style.

  5. I've never heard of these designers before but it's always great to discover new brands! They all look stunning but for me particularly Velásquez and Liv Lov definitely really appeal to me. Minimalistic and bold colours, simple but effective. I love it.
