July Favourites

2015, Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit, beauty, Body Scrub, Fix +, MAC, makeup, Miracle Sponge, Real Techniques, review, Treacklemoon, Up The Amp, youwishyou, swatch,

I'm shocked, gutted and in denial that July is over. Really and truly. July is my favourite month and August is creeping a little bit too close to 2016 for me. It feels weird even mentioning we're anywhere near 2016 yet, it only feels like yesterday I wrote my first post of 2015! Despite being traumatized that it's finished, I've had an interesting and nice July and I think and hope that August will also be a good month. So, less about me and onto the beauty products that haven't left my sight this month.

Whilst on an eye make-up rampage I bought Fix Plus because I was after something that would increase the vividness of my bright shadows. I wondered into MAC, let them know what I was looking for and the lady suggested Fix Plus. I'd heard of it briefly on Youtube and other blogs but I'd never paid any attention to what it actually did but I bought it anyway with the aim of mainly using it for my eye makeup. Well, let me tell you; it does that bloody amazingly and so much more. Spritzing a small amount onto my brush before applying shadows instantly makes them more metallic and vibrant as well as helping them stay fixed for longer. As well as fixing eye makeup for longer, I've been using this as a finishing spray to keep my whole face of makeup looking fresh for the whole day and I love how well it works! It evens out my make-up and softens powders to give them a more natural, dewy look but without compromising coverage- actually strengthening it as it helps it last longer. One of the upsides of not doing a lot of research into a product before buying is that it pleasantly surprises you, which is definitely the case with Fix Plus.

You'll remember from my last haul post (even though it was a while back...maybe it's time for another!) I bought myself Barry M's Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit. Needless to say, I've been reaching for it most days since purchasing it and realising in the last week or so that I'll hit the pan soon if I'm not careful has actually made me realize how much I've loved this product. In the kit it has three matte shades; a light natural colour, brown shade and an even deeper brown. Each of the shades have been well loved, the light powder sets my under eye concealer flawlessly preventing creasing whilst brightening slightly. The brown shade I use for bronzer almost every day as it is a great tone to warm up the face and also add some natural looking definition to my features. The last, darker brown shade I use for contouring my cheeks and also my nose. I predict by this time next month it'll probably be time to buy another!

I've bought some real lovely lipsticks from MAC recently but Up The Amp has been one of my favourites. It's a gorgeous purple lipstick is perfect for adding a punch of colour to a make-up look; I wore it on holiday with nothing else but mascara and brows to give a bare face a polished look. Some bold lipsticks can be a bit drying but this one is absolutely nourishing and sits on my lips both comfortably and is lovely and long lasting. The first time I wore this my boyfriend took one look at me and said "Your lipstick looks like skittles,", a compliment if I did ever hear one.

Something I've always been super lazy about with my face and body is exfoliating. I love exfoliating toners as they are just so quick and easy to integrate into your skincare routine but I've never been one to stick to a specific body or face scrub. I definitely think the reason behind this is because I've never actually found ones that I've fallen in love with, I've always just felt like my skin was no different after using them so they've just never become an important part of my routine. Until now, that is. I've been loving Treaclemoon's Vanilla Body Scrub since it became an addition to my shower routine. Like the majority of Treclemoon's products it smells absolutely to die for, literally, I wish I could eat it. As well as being totally heavenly in the scent department I find it leaves my body glowing a super smooth, and (best of all) it takes no time at all to use it in the shower and still get amazing results. I tend to use this every other day and the texture of my skin is so much more even -particularly my legs- which I'm absolutely loving in skirt season! Even though I've found my go-to body scrub I'm still on the search for my holy grail face exfoliator so any suggestions are more than welcome!

I've been loving using my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge for my foundation and concealer application lately. I find this is a product that I use everday for two weeks then forget about for three weeks, and this is that period of time when I can't sit down and do my makeup without reaching for this little beauty. If you have one of these and find that you don't get on with it, use it damp. Using it dry just doesn't blend to the best of its ability so keep that in mind if you're planning on buying one for yourself. I love this gorgeous little sponge for applying my makeup as it blends everything so effortlessly and gets into all those nooks and crannies; perfect for when you're in a rush.
