All Black Everything: My Favourite Dark Lipstick

One of my favourite things right now is black lipstick. I'm one of those people who would wear all black everything all day every day if I could, and recently my love for black has turned its attention to makeup. I'm going to make a bold statement and say that nothing is more bad ass than black lipstick. It's true and if you don't believe me, try it for yourself. I know that black lipstick can seem overwhelming but there are so many makeup looks it looks flawless with and honestly, whatever your skin tone, I promise you'll be able to carry it off.

Although I have a fair few almost black lipsticks, the only pure black one I have is Midnight by Anastasia Beverly Hills. Midnight is one of her liquid lipsticks and for me this was a bit of a risky buy because I ordered a bunch for the first time without trying the formula first as well as a few daring colours, but luckily the risk was totally worth it. If you haven't tried the ABH liquid lipsticks I would definitely recommend them, the colour payoff and formula are flawless; I can't wait to get my hands on some more, I literally just opened a tab to browse her website.

Before I tried liquid lipsticks I was worried about them being too drying, as I personally have very dry lips and sometimes lipsticks that are ultra matte just crack too easily and cling to all the wrong places, which is a recipe for disaster. In my experience it tends to be the darker colours that are worse on my lips, so I was a bit worried about Midnight as, you know, you don't get any darker than a black lipstick. The finish is the so matte but the feel is so comfortable - it's hands down what I would describe as velvet matte, the texture is gorgeous to wear it makes me never think twice about popping it on. I find the long wear of most of her liquid lipsticks to be very impressive, but I did find Midnight turned quite messy quite quickly when eating and drinking. When wearing it going out for drinks I found it came off very easily and it did make a cheeky appearance on my teeth a few times which is not a good look, so if I know I'm going out to drink or eat I will tend to not chose this to wear, but if I know I'm not going to be having my lips wrapped around anything it's a top ten choice all day, every day.

Aside from that, there's nothing about this lipstick that I would change. The liquid form makes Midnight easy to apply without mess as the foam applicator is angled, which I find the best shape for ensuring the line of your lips is perfect and mess free. And it goes without saying that the colour is to die for. If you're looking for a perfect jet black then look no further than Midnight, it ticks all the boxes for me, and if you like this colour but are telling yourself you wouldn't be able to pull it off, I have some instructions for you. Open a tab, go to the Anastasia Beverly Hills website now and buy yourself Midnight. Don't think about it, just do it. I think what I'm trying to say more than anything is don't be scared to step out of your comfort zone with makeup (or anything!), what's fun about makeup is you can experiment as much as you like and then take it off at the end of the day. You can wear black lipstick one day and barbie pink lipstick the next if you feel like it; don't let anyone -including yourself- tell you that something doesn't suit you because if you like it and you wear it with confidence, you will look beautiful.
